Laser hair removal at The Skin Lab uses Splendor X by Lumenis. It combines two laser wavelengths with built in cooling, and the settings are matched to your skin and hair. For women and men, over a course of sessions planned at your consultation.
The consultation fee is deducted from your treatment.
About the treatment
The laser sends light into the hair follicle, where the pigment in the hair absorbs it and turns it into heat. This damages the follicle so it grows less new hair. The result is a gradual, long term reduction of unwanted hair.
Splendor X by Lumenis. It combines two wavelengths, Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm, and adjusts them for different skin tones and hair types. Cooling is built in for comfort during the session.
The face or beard, underarms, arms, legs, back, abdomen, bikini line and the full body. Women and men each have their own price list below.
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser works on the hairs that are in their active growth phase at the time of the session. The gap between sessions depends on the area and is set for you after an assessment.
The clinician prepares the area, sets the laser for your skin and hair and treats it section by section. Most people feel mild heat or a quick snapping feeling. Numbing is usually not needed.
Shave the area before your appointment as instructed. Do not wax, thread or pluck, and avoid strong sun and tanning. Tell us about your medicines, recent treatments and any change in your health.
Redness, warmth, mild swelling or sensitivity can appear and usually settle soon. Avoid strong heat and sun and use sun protection on treated skin. Burns, blisters or changes in skin colour are less common, and we explain them before you start.
